Skandasana

(Side lunge)

One of the most suggested practices during this hot season of summer, is to replace your sun salutation by a MOON SALUTATION. This sequence, also called Chandra Namaskar, will honor and elevate your yin and feminine side. We all possess these two energetic poles, the masculine and feminine. And nothing to do with being a man or a woman. Le matin vous pourriez bien pratiquer votre salutation au soleil, puis le soir apaiser vos système avec la salutation à la lune.

In the morning you could practice sun salutation in order to get you going and give you energy for the day and at night, chose a moon salutation to appease your different systems.

This said, however you decide to introduce it to your life, one of the postures that demands a little bit more attention is Skandasana, the side lunge..

it is important to respect your knee and ligaments. O offer you these 3 progressive levels so you can execute this posture with patience and consciousness.

EXECUTION

  • –  Start standing with legs wide apart, larger than shoulder width.
  • –  Slowly bring your buttocks towards the left heel, as you straighten the right leg on the side.
  • –  Lift the toes off the extended leg up.
  • –  Keep and engaged back, straight but relaxed.
  • –  There are different options for the arms. Ideally, bring the hands on the floor in front of you, but respect the level where youare at (see pictures).
  • –  To get out, slowly bring core and buttocks up as you shift the weight center (between both legs), to come back up standing, legs wide open.
